I Don't teach DRD anymore, but..

Some of the students I had for DRD last year are a grade older and some are even a grade or two better. I think the skills, not the ones we teach, but the street skills and survival skills the students pick up contribute to their success. Peer pressure, next grade level requirements and wanting to not stay the same help these students fit in and make decisions that will help them do ok.

Lots of Interesting DRD Info

There is a DRD conference in Arizona. As tight as the budget is, I don't think I will get a chance to go. I got some info about the WADE and the Wilson System. I was happy to get that!

Still Working with DRD

I had a speech teacher come by to observe a student but she thought I was still the DRD teacher. I explained it to her.

Spoke to the Current DRD teacher

She had some questions about the program and I needed help for some students from last year that are in another district. Two teachers trying to help DRD students. Cool!

New School Year - No longer the DRD guy

New School Year. I am no longer the DRD teacher, however my class will probably still be used for DRD. We are still finalizing the schedule. We are Recognized and on our way to Exemplary. Go Wiggs Wolverines!

Observation by the New DRD Coach

We did ok! My students were still squirrely, but that was ok. They learned a little and my DRD coach saw how and why my class runs the way it does. We did parts 1 to 5 the first day and then on the second day we did parts 1, 2, 6, 7, and 8. I even had time to do part 9. I am hoping to be more effective next year. We still have the TAKS tests coming up next week.

Planning for Next Year 2010 to 2011

I am trying to prepare my group for end of year and next year. Most of mine will be back. However, we may be going to a 6 X 6 block system. I hope I can be more effective next year.
